NASHVILLE – American hard-rock band Shinedown recently wrapped their summer tour with lighting provided by Bandit Lites. After celebrating their ninth No. 1 single with “Cut the Cord” off their upcoming studio album Threat to Survival, the band will be back on the road in November with a co-headlining tour with Breaking Benjamin. LD Carter Fulghum used GLP, Robe, Vari-Lite and Clay Paky moving lights.

Fulghum used GLP X4S’s to provide front light and color for the stage. Robe Pointes brought punches of color, cutting through the VL 3000s, the fixture Fulghum deemed “the workhorse of the rig.” Clay Paky B-EYES were utilized as dressing and backlight.
“I really liked working with the B-EYES,” said Fulghum of the recently added fixtures. “They have a lot of unique effects that help you keep each song looking different and new.”
With the summer tour taking place in more intimate settings such as theaters, Fulghum studied the parameters of the rig to provide a design that would fill the space, yet still remain true to the band’s style of music.
“You still needed to get big looks, but you do not have the same amount of units to accomplish it,” said Fulghum. “It made it a little more challenging, but that’s how you grow as a designer.”
“I cannot offer enough praise for the band, as it always a pleasure to work with Shinedown. In addition to being great musical talents, they consistently go out of their way to make the crew feel like family,” said Bandit’s Brent Barrett adding, “Carter has the eye and timing required for presenting a truly dynamic light show.”
Bandit has long counted Shinedown as part of the Bandit Family, and is looking forward to providing their lighting package for their fall arena tour, a feeling that is shared by Fulghum, who added that the support he receives from Project Manager Matt King and Client Rep Brent Barrett never lets him down.
