MINNEAPOLIS -Thanks to the temporary seating configuration constructed of custom seating riser equipment from Staging Concepts, 17,000 fans will be front and center during the NCAA Final Four at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans. This seating configuration involved a major dramatic move of the basketball court from the end zone, where it was in 2003 when New Orleans last hosted the Final Four, to the middle of the arena, giving tens of thousands of fans — primarily students — a chance to be near the action.
Almost 4,700 portable platforms supported by a highly engineered scaffold style understructure will be used during this year’s Final Four, covering an area of 188,216 sq. ft. Staging Concepts’ temporary seating riser configuration is also contracted for the 2013 regional games and Final Four in Dallas and Atlanta, as well as the 2014 Final Four in Dallas.
“We are pleased that we continue to be the temporary seating configuration provider for the NCAA from year to year and venue to venue,” said Brian Arnold, Eastern Sales Manager for Staging Concepts. “Since 2008 we’ve helped the NCAA transform enormous football stadiums into intimate basketball settings – it’s a fun and exciting project to be a part of.”
The temporary seating configuration consists of Staging Concepts’ SC90 Single Sided Platforms that are supported by the SC9600 Bridge Support System and SC100 Folding Supports. The temporary seating configuration adds more than 18,000 seats to the Mercedes Benz Superdome for fans, media, teams and officials.
