It’s been 586 days since the last performance of The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway due to the COVID-19 shutdown. Here’s a video from the Phantom team showing the crew prepare the chandelier backstage for it’s preset position and the cast coming back into the theater and witnessing the chandelier being hoisted into position for the show’s reopening:

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, the longest-running show in Broadway history, resumes performances October 22 at the Majestic Theatre. The Tony-winning musical has been closed since March 2020 due to the pandemic. The Broadway staging of the London-originated show won seven 1988 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Previews on Broadway began January 9, 1988, with an official opening January 26.

The musical opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre on October 9, 1986 and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 30th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End, after more than 11,000 performances.
