LAS VEGAS – After 20 years of sharing the stage together, including their much-heralded Last Rodeo tour, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn will be sharing another stage – the 2010 Parnelli Awards on Oct. 22 – to personally hand their longtime tour manager, Randy "Baja" Fletcher, his Parnelli Lifetime Achievement Award. But wait, there's more: Mr. Paul Anka, one of the most prolific songwriters and admired entertainers of all time will also be in the house. This year's Audio Innovator honoree, Al Siniscal, got his first big break creating cutting-edge speakers for Mr. Anka in the late 1960s for his Las Vegas performances.
"It says a lot about these stars that they will arrive in person to thank people who contributed to their success," says Terry Lowe, PLSN/FOH publisher and Parnelli Awards executive producer. "And they won't be the only stars in attendance – there'll be other surprises." He adds that the evening will also be filled with the stars of our industry to present awards, including Allen Branton, Mike Brown, Rusty Brutsché, Vickie Claiborne, Carol Dodds, Jeanette Farmer, Mark Haney, Buford Jones, and Ed Wannebo, among others.
The gala celebration has already sold more tickets than the previous two years, both of which were sell-outs. But this year, the 10th anniversary of the Parnellis is so big it'll be in a larger room with a stage – the Pavilion Ballroom at the Rio in Las Vegas. Tickets are currently available but they are going fast and, "it will absolutely sell out again," Lowe says.
