LAS VEGAS — In separate accidents Feb. 22 and 23, two Cirque du Soleil performers suffered injuries from falls. Both were reportedly in stable condition after being transported to University Medical Center in Las Vegas for treatment.
The Feb. 22 accident, where the performer reportedly fell through an opening in the stage, took place during an invitation-only dress rehearsal for The Beatles LOVE show, which is being revamped.
Although the dress rehearsal on Feb. 22 was canceled after the accident, another dress rehearsal took place Feb. 23, as scheduled. The updated version of the show, set to be unveiled at the Mirage hotel and casino Feb. 25, will proceed as planned.
The Feb. 23 incident took place during a performance of Zarkana at the Aria hotel and casino. That show, which began at 9:30 p.m., was open to the public. The show was halted temporarily but then resumed, according to a Cirque spokesperson.
Another performer injured during a Beatles LOVE show in Dec. 2014 was treated and release in good condition. A Zarkana performer was hospitalized after falling during a stunt in Nov. 2013.
In June 2013, Ka aerialist Sarah Guillot-Guyard, 31, died after a fall at the MGM Grand hotel and casino.
