NASHVILLE, TN – Country artist Vince Gill is touring the U.S. with lighting provided by Bandit Lites. Gill’s lighting designer, Dylan Mire, sought a design that would complement the show with updated looks but not distract from the artist or the bluegrass band. The rig includes Vari*Lite VL2500 Spots, Robe CycFX8 fixtures and Martin MAC Auras, with GRN Par 64 fixtures used for light columns on the backdrop and Chauvet Color Dashes as truss toners, all controlled via a grandMA1 full console.

With 20 Grammy Awards, 2 Entertainer of the Year CMAs and more than 26 million albums sold, Vince Gill’s shows are an exercise of musical genius for the multi-instrumentalist singer-song writer.
As Vince Gill’s lighting designer for the past four years, Dylan Mire felt the lighting needed a refreshing new look that would complement the show but not distract from Vince or the bluegrass band.
“The lighting needed to be simple and effective to highlight an established artist,” Mire said. “We also needed the gear to fit into a limited amount of truck space.”
Mire utilized VL 2500 Spots, Robe CycFX8 and Martin MAC Auras in the design, placing GRN Par 64 fixtures for light columns on the backdrop and Chauvet Color Dashes as truss toner. Mire also uses a GrandMA 1 full console.
“I was excited to try out the Robe CycFX8, as it is a new and versatile fixture,” added Mire. “It can be used as a standard floor cyc uplight, band backlight, and as an effect feature. These fixtures, along with the other LED and VL gear, allow us to get a large impact out of a small package and still maintain a low power draw.”
“Working with Bandit is always great,” Mire expounded. “Everyone involved in the project is helpful and the support is top-notch.”
