Warren Haynes Dreams of Green Christmas with Bandit

KNOXVILLE, TN – The Warren Haynes Christmas Jam has become an annual tradition in Asheville, NC. In keeping with his “green” mantra, Haynes wanted more LED fixtures in this year’s show to reduce his carbon footprint, and Bandit supplied it once again. The event benefits Habitat for Humanity.

KNOXVILLE, TN – LD Preston Hoffman and musician Warren Haynes again called upon Bandit Lites for the 23rd edition of the Warren Haynes Christmas Jam. Held each year at the Asheville Civic Center in Asheville, NC, the event is always a sellout, and this year was no exception. This year’s seven-hour long show, held Dec. 10, included Haynes and Gov’t Mule, Phil Lesh and Friends, Los Lobos, Bela Fleck and a host of other notable artists.

Production Manager Kit Blanchard worked with Hoffman and Bandit San Francisco GM Dizzy Gosnell on this year’s edition of the Jam. The show took on an eco-friendly green direction this year, as Hoffman used a large amount of Bandit-supplied LED fixtures. This reduced the power consumption on the show – eliminating the need for generators – and reduced the heat on stage.  All of this leads to a reduced carbon footprint, and that fits with the mantra from Haynes himself.

The heart of the system was comprised of GRNLite Moving Washes, GRNLite PARs and GRNLite Wash fixtures. All of the GRNLite equipment provided a huge base wash. For hard edge effects, Hoffman used VL 3000 Spots as well as the Martin MAC 2000 Beam.

Hoffman’s color palette painted ever-changing pictures. The truss structure overhead resembled a spider encapsulating the stage. The entire arena became part of the event as long strings of festoons and over-sized mirror balls took over the ceiling space. The ethereal feeling lasted through the night.

The Christmas Jam is held each year to benefit Habitat for Humanity, and has contributed well over a million dollars to the organization. The city of Asheville has embraced this event as it takes over the town for three days. Bandit Lites is also a proud supporter of Habitat in Knoxville, and has worked with Anderson Merchandisers the past four years to raise an additional $1 million in Knoxville.
