FRANKFURT, Germany — Journalists from more than 100 industry magazines from all over the world nominated and voted for the best musical instruments and audio gear of 2014/2015 at the prestigious MIPA/PIPA Musikmesse/Prolight+Sound International Press Awards. The awards were announced at a special MIPA/PIPA awards ceremony attended by more than 300 industry professionals and held on Thursday, April 16th, during the Musikmesse/Prolight+Sound 2015.
The top honor in the PIPA professional production awards went to Roland’s M-5000 live digital console, which is slated to begin shipping this month. Delighted with this recognition of the M-5000, director of Roland Professional A/V in Europe Peter Heath said, “We are incredibly proud of this award, especially against such strong and established competitors such as Midas and Soundcraft. Recognition at this level and in this category is a tremendous honor.”
In addition to the 37 categories of equipment awards, Martin König (of König & Meyer) was the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Established over 65 years ago, König & Meyer is a leading provider of high-quality music stands, microphone and instrument stands, speaker stands, seats and accessories for the music, lighting, sound production and studio technology industries.
