AMSTERDAM — The LED specialists at InventDesign built a grid of digital LED profiles with a total length of more than 1,500 meters for the Amsterdam Music Festival, a key part of the five-day Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) held in the Dutch capital in mid-October since 1996. ADE now draws more than 2,200 DJs and electronic music-makes over a five-day span, with close to 450 events staged at 115 clubs and venues.
More details from InventDesigns (www.inventdesign.nl):
For the second time in row, the LEDs of InventDesign were chosen for the two-day Amsterdam Music Festival during the Amsterdam Dance Event. InventDesign built a grid of digital LED profiles with a total length of over 1500 meters. Due to the vast potential of the digital LEDs, the light operators of the different DJ’s created an overwhelming show. The huge show took place from October 19-23, 2016 attracting a massive crowd to three different venues in the city.
Composition of the LED installation
The LED installation with a dimension of over 55 by 21 meters consisted of 1,500 meters of digital M18 LED profiles that are developed by InventDesign. Each square in the grid consisted of 2.1 meter straight profiles and diagonal profiles of 2.81 meters, all of which are specifically tailored for AMF. Because of the long lengths of the diagonals, the installation was built slim and the audience only saw tight and connected lines. In order to control all the pixels, 16 DiGidot C4 controllers were used and linked through by means of an ethernet connection.
These LED controllers have also been developed by InventDesign. Because of the perfect preparation, the entire system was build up and ready to use in only 12 hours.
The stage design was created by 250K. Because of the custom-made products of InventDesign, the designers of the stage didn’t have to compromise in their design and could create an overwhelming show.
Amsterdam Music Festival during ADE
The 21st edition of the Amsterdam Dance Event attracted over 365,000 visitors from the Netherlands and abroad. This fourth edition of AMF, which was organized by ALDA Events and ID&T, covered all five days of ADE, spread over several locations. Impressive names like Hardwell, Afrojack, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren and Steve Aoki spinned their records on Saturday and Sunday for AMF in the Amsterdam ArenA.
