SYDNEY – Waterforms International updated the lighting used in the main Dancing Brolga Fountain at the Cockle Bay Wharf dining and entertainment complex in Sydney's Darling Harbour with 30 Anolis ArcSource 6 fixtures. Anolis' Australian distributor, ULA, supplied Waterforms' Dirk Slotboom with the color-changing LED fixtures. Slotboom updated the original lighting installed to light the fountain, which was designed by Terrance Plowright in 1998. The 30 ArcSource 6 – 25 degrees units are arranged in a pattern around the fountain with two water jets around each unit.
The Anolis installation lighting is controlled by an E:Cue Butler system, and can be selected to chase through different colors or to be set to one of a myriad of static color options.
The new fixtures enable Cockle Bay's management to color-theme the fountain for traditional and special events throughout the retail calendar. They can also now replicate the colors of a fire, reflected off the metallic sheen of the 12 Brolga bird sculptures circling the fountain and making them appear to be dancing among the flames.
Crane-like Brolgas are a common wetland species in tropical and eastern Australia, and the bird has a prominent perch in Aboriginal heritage, symbology and lore.
