WOLFSBURG, Germany — In a visual showcase that included 350 water systems, 70-meter-high fountains, 15-meter-high flames, seven large-format LED video screens and a full complement of lighting and sound gear, the Autostadt theme park here couldn’t leave out the lasers. Accordingly, tarm Showlaser provided 11 full color 25W lasers and 20 green laser scanners.
More details from tarm Showlaser (www.tarm.de):
“Water” played a leading role at Wolfsburg’s Autostadt theme park this summer. The pinnacle of this year’s stagings was the water shows, the world’s largest of their kind, which the Autostadt produced and choreographed on its own.
Around 350 water systems producing more than 70-meter-high fountains, more than 130 flame generators producing up to 15-meter high flames, seven LED screens, eleven full-color 25-Watt lasers, twenty green laser scanners, plus new light and sound concepts were employed at this year’s shows.
Technical implementation of the project was assigned to a team whose collaboration had proven its worth in staging the annual shows for the last few years. Included among the collaborators were the firms of Aquatique Show for the water systems, Leyendecker for the lighting, tarm Showlaser for the laser systems, Entertainment Technology Concepts for the video equipment, and LiveAudio event technic for the sound systems.
Particular challenges were accurately synchronizing the compositions consisting of flames, water jets, laser effects, lighting, and video projections to the music throughout the lengthy durations of the open-air shows, along with the extremely high moisture levels to which all of the equipment was subjected.
Altogether, the Wolfsburg automobile theme park attracted 498,000 visitors during the summer season, which ran from June 28 through September 1. Expressing his satisfaction with how well everything went off, Otto F. Wachs, Autostadt’s general manager, stated that, “Our concept was a 100% success. Thanks to our expanded show schedule, we had daily many more visitors to the park than in preceding years. The feedback from visitors was uniformly positive.”
