AVL Concept Uses Clay Paky Gear for Queen’s Day Celebration in the Netherlands

GRONINGEN, the Netherlands – For a local celebration here of Queen's Day, or Koninginnedag, the Dutch national holiday in honor of the Queen's birthday, AVL Concept provided the Prolyte MPT roof, lighting, sound, barriers and dressing rooms. The celebration, which starts on the evening before and continues the next day, is one of several in the Netherlands where cities and towns erect stages in the town square for live music and other performances. AVL Concept has provided support to the Groningen event for several years.

Although itself a relatively young company, AVL Concept was the first in the world to add Clay Paky Alpha Spot HPE 700 fixtures to its inventory, and AVL lighting designer and project manager Jesper Schelling used these along with Alpha Beam 700s for Koninginnedag.

Schelling, who also operated the show, credited the fixtures as "very easy to position," with precise color mixing, distinctive gobos and lamps that are "easily applicable to a wide variety of different types of events."

Pre-visualization via wysiwyg proved a benefit to both crew and client, and Schelling used a Pearl Expert with the latest version of Titan software for control.
