BELFAST, Northern Ireland — More than 3,500 revelers partied ’til the small hours at for the legendary dance event Cream Tours at Belfast’s T13 warehouse on Saturday, April 30. Event promoter Notorious Parties welcomed the return of the iconic night with its cast of DJing elite including; dance music giant John O’Callaghan, Bryan Kearney, Will Atkinson, Standerwick, Agnelli and Nelson and Anthony Probyn. Event lighting designer John McGuinness of Just Lite Productions looked after the lighting for the event. The control setup included Avolites’ Sapphire Touch, Tiger Touch II and Fader Wing, Quartz, Ai Infinity media server and ART2000 48″ Dimmer racks.

More details from Avolites (www.avolites.com):

McGuinness, who put his Avolites Sapphire Touch console, featuring Titan Version 9, to work says: “The great thing about the Sapphire Touch is it’s very simple and fast to program and I can achieve the looks I want in seconds. I am a huge fan of the Key Frame Shapes feature – it adds another dimension to what I can create, turning visualized effects into motion very quickly.

“In addition, the Sapphire Touch is ideal for the dance events I do as I’ve got multiple banks of faders and the two wide touch screens offer me a huge workspace – great for quick action cues. When it comes to events like this, it’s basically a large busk show. There’s very little you can program, as you never know a DJ’s set list. It’s therefore always great to be able to have multiple options in front of you to make life easier when you’re running the show.”

McGuinness’ eclectic rig included Robe Pointes, Chauvet DJ SlimPANEL Tri 24s, Martin Atomic strobes and PixelRange PixelLines. Alongside the Sapphire Touch, McGuinness networked the Tiger Touch II and Fader Wing as back up. He used the Quartz as an independent special effects controller to trigger CO2, confetti and flames.

“Avolites kit never lets me down, it’s robust, reliable and can survive some of the most testing and lively environments. We rarely have any problems.”

Meanwhile through the Ai Infinity media server, McGuinness was able to control 55m2 of 7mm LED strip panels. These were positioned throughout the venue including in between the stand-alone trusses.

Over the years Cream has cemented itself as one of the world’s most iconic dance brands. Since its inception in Liverpool, the night has grown to festival level, with the annual Creamfields in Cheshire a high point on the dance event calendar.

Creamfields 2016 will take place between the 25th and 28th of August. Calvin Harris, Groove Armada and Fatboy Slim are scheduled to perform.
