Bournemouth Pavilion Dance Centre Lit with ETC Gear

BOURNEMOUTH, U.K. – The Pavilion Dance Centre in the southern coastal city opened recently with new lighting equipment from ETC, including six Selador Vivid-R LED fixtures. The gear, which were supplied by Audio Light Systems, also includes an ETC Congo jr lighting control console with fader wing, Source Four Zoom spotlights, two Sensor+ dimmer racks and a non-dim control panel custom built for the project by ETC.

Andy Stone, the theater consultant who worked on the project for Drama by Design, credited the Selador fixtures for "the light output and excellent color rendering, as well as the smooth dimming and excellent range of lenses.

"It made sense to get a similar desk," Stone added, noting how the same technical staff works with the Dance Centre's sister venues,  – the Pavilion Theatre and Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) – and both those venues already had ETC Congo desks installed.

"The idea was to create a regional dance center for the southwest of England, says Stone. "It's housed in a rear part of the Pavilion Theatre, an art deco theatre built in the 1920s."

The Dance Centre opened in September and is operated by Pavilion Dance in partnership with BH LIVE and Bournemouth Borough Council. The 180-seat performance auditorium and two rehearsal studios offer dance classes for all ages and abilities along with performances and space for top dance artists.
