CAPE TOWN, South Africa — Complete Event Solutions (CES) supported the South African leg of DJ Armin van Buuren’s five-continent A State of Trance 500 Tour, and the timing was right: Martin distributor Electronic SA had just received their demo stock of MAC 101s.
CES’ Dylan Bridle met with Bruce Schwartz from Electrosonic, and Bridle’s initial skepticism didn’t last long. “I need those,” he said. Although the units arrived just a day before load-in, Bridle and CES LD Martin De Bruin were able to include 48 of the compact MAC 101s in the rig.
The MAC 101s were rigged in two straight rows of 20, with the remaining eight fixtures arranged around a circle truss directly over FOH. They were complemented by other Martin fixtures, including MAC 700s, MAC 2000s and Atomic 3000. Together, they helped immerse a crowd of 12,000 in a sea of light, sound and visual technology.
