SANTIAGO, Chile — Turner Media-owned ChileVision TV, which broadcasts nationally from seven studios here, has been adding Robe fixtures to its inventory since 2007. They currently use more than 60 Robe fixtures, including ColorSpot and ColorWash 575 and 1200E AT moving lights, Scan 1200 XTs and LEDBlinders.
“The features and the functions of the units are great,” said the station’s chief lighting technician Mario Navarrete who, together with the station’s chief engineer Luis Silva helped place the first order. “In four years since the first lights started work here – and haven’t stopped since – we have not had a single unit break down.”
Navarrete, Jorge Rano and Marcelo Gonzales Flores incorporate the fixtures regularly into their lighting designs for ChileVision’s studio programs, OBs and location work. “They have really opened up so many possibilities and mean we can be so much more inventive and clever with the lighting than before,” said Navarrete.
The sales were all coordinated by Leonardo Macaya, who is now working for Robe’s current distributor in Chile, Valook, also based in Santiago. Macaya has been selling Robe since 2003, after first meeting Robe at the LDI exhibition of that year, and since then has seen the company and the brand grow.
Programs produced at ChileVision TV include Fiebre de Baille (Dance Fever), Talent Chileno (Chile’s Got Talent), Primer Plano (First Plan) and, for the first time this year, the station won the contract to be the host broadcaster and technical provider at the Festival Internacional de la Canción de Viña del Mar (Vina Del Mar International Song Festival), a major production.
