LONDON — Clay Paky is organizing the second edition of the Knight of Illumination Awards. The awards program, which honors lighting designers from around the world who work in both live entertainment and on television shows, is organized in association with STLD and ALD and is sponsored this year by Osram. It will be held on Sept. 13, 2009 at the Ibis Hotel at Earls Court, London. Last year’s inaugural edition of the awards program honored Dave Davey, Ben Smithard, Nigel Catmur, Al Gurdon (TV category), Jonny Gaskell, Richard Larkum (rock category) and Lucy Carter, Paul Pyant, Paule Constable and Neil Austin (theatre category). They were presented with swords symbolizing their willingness to defend the values of integrity and professionalism.
Applications to take part in the contest officially closed on June 15. Since that date, the judging process has been underway, under the guidance and oversight of STLD and ALD.
