DUBAI, U.A.E. – Promoter Fluid Production brought DJ David Guetta to the Dubai World Trade Center recently. LD Frank Schotman used Martin fixtures and LED panels to create visual pulses synched to the audible beat. The gear list included Martin's MAC 301 Wash, MAC 401 Dual and MAC 2000 range luminaires and also Martin LC Plus LED panels. The lighting equipment was supplied by Eclipse and acquired from Martin Middle East.
Of Martin's LED moving washlights, Mark Brown of Eclipse noted, "the reason we chose them is that they are lightweight, small, have a great zoom, and have low power consumption."
Schotman placed most of the MAC gear on five finger trusses that covered most of the event center hall, allowing him to envelope the audience in color. He also placed Atomic strobes and other lighting on five truss towers for special effects.
Schotman also used Martin's 2140 LC Plus LED panels as a backdrop for Guetta's performance. Semi-transparent and modular, they are designed to be light in weight and easy to assemble, making them well-suited for touring.
Graphics on the panels were driven by a P3-100 System Controller, Martin's advanced video signal processor that allows LED screens to be treated like lighting instruments through direct DMX control of brightness, color, pixel mapping and more.
