KIEV, Ukraine — For this year’s annual Oriflame directors meeting, attended by some 6,000 of the cosmetic company’s representatives from Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus, set designer Nik Vishnevetski and lighting designer Dimitri Pruidze supported a performance by Eurovision 2008 winner Dima Bilan with a lighting rig including fixtures and control gear made by Martin Professional and supplied by Gali-Leo Rental.

Pruidze, who has lit the Russian singer before, worked with Vishnevetski on a design that made use of a large truss structure within the Kiev International Exhibition Centre that measured 12 meters high and 26 meters across. “The idea was to make a huge 20-meter truss star and to have it shine with all the colors of the rainbow,” Pruidze said.

The LD positioned MAC III Profiles and MAC 2000 Wash XBs on the truss structure, choosing them for their beam effects and position washes. The main stage rig also included Martin MAC 2000 series fixtures, and front truss also held MAC 2000 Profiles for gobo projection onto set pieces along with MAC 2000 Washes to front-wash up to 100 performers on stage. Pruidze also incorporated 24 MAC 101 LED wash lights at the side stage sound towers.

The crew used a Martin Maxxyz with a Martin USB Duo universe LightJockey for programming and control. Vitali Pravdin synchronized all video material for the show via a Martin Maxedia PRO media server.

A separate rig with MAC 600 and MAC 500 fixtures was used for a special VIP zone for top directors and guests from Oriflame’s home country, Sweden.
