PLSN Staff • International News • November 21, 2009

VANTAA and TAMPARE, Finland — The Gold Dust gaming clubs here creating multiple looks and atmospheric moods with Medialon show and media control software installations, part of an installation done by Lumia. Medialon Manager V5 helps schedule and control lighting, video and audio in each club. “Medialon system is the key ingredient of the system. It integrates several different devices into an easy-to-use system where complicated structure is hidden from users,” said Timo Hiekkanen, operating and sales manager of Lumia. “Usability issues were crucial, since the system had to be used by Gold Dust staff, and not by AV professionals,” Hiekkanen added.

The Medialon Manager Panel gave Lumia the ability to design touch panel interfaces for game club staffers, giving them an easy way to control volume levels and to launch various shows.

Medialon Manager is also to operate the AV system according to a predefined timetable. Volume levels rise and video and audio playlists are modified, for example, as evening turns to night.

The timetable can also be configured from a graphical user interface, which also provides controls for digital TV and video switching.

One Medialon Manager V5 Lite license controls, via TCP/IP:

  • 6 LCD displays

“Medialon Manager was chosen because of its versatility. It doesn’t limit our freedom of choice; Medialon runs smoothly with any hardware and gives us the possibility to choose the best equipment regardless of the manufacturer or connections,” Hiekkanen said.

Timo Eirto, from ZetaDisplay Finland Oy, was the installer and AV contractor for the project, providing the digital signage system and the hardware installation. Timo Tuominen from Insinööritoimisto Olof Granlund Oy, was the AV designer.
