GUANGZHOU, China — The 16th Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, held June 9-12 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou, drew more than 100,000 visitors and 2,931 exhibitors, breaking the record on both counts with better than a 40 percent surge, driven largely by new LED technologies. The total exhibition area covered 210,000 square meters spread across 20 halls in the complex. In all, 116 countries were represented at the show, which covers a wide spectrum of lighting-related industries and applications.

“This year we had 10 halls dedicated exclusively to the LED industry under the banner of LED Asia and these halls attracted much industry and buyer interest,” said Richard Li, deputy general manager of Messe Frankfurt in China.  “We introduced this concept because we wanted to provide the most comprehensive sourcing opportunities under one roof, highlighting both the upstream part of the industry, like chips and raw materials, as well as the middle stream and its products such as packaging equipment.  Also by segmenting each LED hall into a particular sector, it was much easier for buyers to find what they wanted, quickly and efficiently.”
