SINGAPORE – Impact Engineering, which supports productions in Singapore, Hong Kong and China, has purchased 116 Robe moving lights, including 50 ColorSpot 700E ATs and 66 ROBIN 300 Beams, in a deal handled by Louis Teo of Robe SEA.

It's the first investment in Robe that Impact has made, noted director Johnny Ong, although the company has been working with the brand for some time. They first used Robe's XT Series fixtures for a club installation in Taiwan seven years ago, and those units still very much in use.

"Robe is being specified more and more frequently for productions, so we wanted to expand our inventory and get the brand onboard to ensure that as a leading rental house we can supply what LDs are asking for," he said, adding that the specific fixtures fill a gap in the company's product range, and Robe's "excellent" local support helped seal the deal.

Impact handles everything from live events, festivals, rock 'n' roll, concerts and touring to conferences and corporate events, theatre and TV productions. The company is active in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and mainland China, servicing more than 150 events per year. Its offices are in Singapore, Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai.

Sister company UnUsUal Developments owns halls 8 and 10 of the Singapore Expo, which can be used as event venues with capacities of up to 7,000 and 5,000 people, respectively.

Impact's Robe fixtures have already been used to light Hong Kong "Cantopop" standout Sammi Cheng at the Indoor Stadium in Singapore, where UnUsUal Productions provided design and gear. There, 40 Robe ColorSpot 700E ATs were used along with 58 of the ROBIN 300 Beams.

UnUsUal also provided technical production for events related to the month-long Youth Olympic Games (YOG) and 2010 Singapore National Day Parade (NDP), using Impact's Robe fixtures there as well.
