LONDON – A new touring research study, Moving Arts: Managing the Carbon Impacts of our Touring, published by environmental advocates Julie's Bicycle and presented at Royal Albert Hall, cites LEDs in general, and GLP light fixtures in particular, as ways to reduce a tour's environmental and monetary cost. The three-volume report measures the impacts of touring and presents practical solutions to help cut touring emissions. It includes analyses of over 30 tour legs across the globe, with case studies and discussions on topics including biofuels, carbon offsets, perceived barriers and priority recommendations.
"Of course, lighting is integral to live shows and we are glad to have worked with GLP to include some examples of real, proven and affordable technology that can be implemented immediately and benefit us all," noted Alison Tickell, director of Julie's Bicycle.
GLP's Mark Ravenhill cited several advantages of the company's fixtures over less energy-efficient alternatives. "Reduced truck space, reduced weight, and reduced power consumption are just some of the areas where savings can be made, without compromising the artistic desires of the artist or the design team."
