PARIS – For a catwalk show featuring lingerie by Chantelle-Passionata at the Salon International de la Lingerie exhibition in Paris, LD Alex Junca specified Robe ROBIN LEDWash 600 moving lights. The three-day event was held at the Paris Expo, Port de Versailles, and Impact Evènement provided the gear. Junca chose the Robe gear based on their array of  pastel colors and their ability to generate precise whites at different color temperatures. Having used LEDWash 600s on two previous events, Junca, a veteran director of photography for a variety of film and TV projects, was confident that they would provide him with what he needed for the event.

For Chantelle-Passionata, Junca was working for agency Graines d'Etolies and also with set designer Agnes Lancelle. He helped create a new ambience for the booth, a fusion of postmodernist pin-up and pop art aesthetics.

With a runway show every hour and intense media interest, a key goal was to make the catwalk camera-friendly with a smooth even wash of tungsten, with pastel variations  for additional visual depth.

The LEDWash 600s, controlled from a grandMA console, proved well-suited to the task, overcoming the challenges posed by the area's ambient light. Junca also credited the fixtures for the ability to adjust the color temperature between 2700 and 8000° K along the runway. "This feature  is an indispensable tool specially for film and video capture" he noted.

In between the shows, the LEDWash 600s were used for washing the booth with a selection of pastel colors.

The 12 LEDWashes were rigged on a trussing grid structure above the catwalk. Another key consideration was their compact size, helping them to  blend into the surroundings. Junca also credited the fixtures fro reliability, their light engine, the color mixing system and the 15 to 60 degree zoom.

"LEDWash 600 is a product I have been waiting for, and one that really matches my expectations as an LED wash fixture," Junca said. "It's indispensable for AV and filmic applications and TV studios, and for me, is the most optimized luminaire currently available for this sector. It's clear that Robe has really thought through their R & D processes to bring unique, dynamic and very practical technology to the market."
