HONG KONG —AV company PCCW chose a Medialon control system for the digital planetarium system installed in the Stanley Ho Space Theatre at the Hong Kong Space Museum. The theatre, sheltered beneath the museum’s egg-shaped dome, is part of the planetarium area of the museum. The theatre features a 23-meter-diameter hemispherical projection and an OmniMax film projector. A high-resolution Sky-Skan Definiti 8K full dome system drives six sets of Sony T110 SXRD video projectors for full dome moving pictures.
Inside the theatre, the Medialon system coordinates the e:cue-based LED lighting system, a Dataton Watchout multi-display system, a Yamaha digital mixer controlling multi channel sound to the 13 clusters of MeyerSound loudspeakers behind the dome, the OmniMax large format film projector, and the Carl Zeiss planetarium optical projector through an automation interface. The Medialon also controls a Spice package from Sky-Skan to run different types of shows.
“The easy-to-change user screen and powerful logical task features of Medialon Manager enable accurate operation of all shows. The powerful Medialon Low Level Communicator (LLC) driver ensures good connectivity to different devices, especially those in house custom made system,” said Kai-Ming Wong, project manager at PPCW. “All these advanced functions and features help to maintain quality in show delivering,” he added.
