BEIJING — A wooden stage estimated to be about 10 feet above the floor below gave way during a Nov. 28 choral performance with dozens of singers at Beihang University’s school of aeronautical engineering. Most of those on stage at the time fell; 25 were hospitalized. An LED screen also toppled over and fell to the lower level from one side of the stage.

Although some sources reported that none of the injuries were serious, others noted that 10 of the injured required an extended hospital stay. The performance was part of a gala celebration in 880 capacity Chenxing Music Hall marking 30 years since the establishment of the aeronautical institute in Beijing. The incident took place just before the end of the show.
