SYDNEY — Promoter One Cube Entertainment cited “a major technical production issue” as the reason for calling off the inaugural New Year’s Eve music festival at the new Wet ‘n’ Wild Sydney water park in Prospect, NSW, a Sydney suburb, less than 24 hours before the event.

Although there had been early reports that the event would be postponed to Jan. 26, a message on the event’s website, nyefestival.net.au, did not have information on the plans for postponement and instead noted that ticket refunds would begin Jan. 2.

Shortly before the event, the website had noted that it was 95 percent sold out, with no general admission tickets available and only VIP tickets remaining.

The event, which was set to begin at 4 p.m. Dec. 31 and run through the countdown to midnight, was to feature seven performance areas with a variety of water slides and attractions in operation throughout the evening.

The lineup of EDM artists included Gtronic, Faydee, Yolanda Be Cool, UberJak’d, Motorik Vibe Council, Will Sparks, Tigerlily, Haezer, SCNDL, Tom Deluxx, NatNoise, F.O.O.L., Black Asteroid, Smacktown, Redial, Nadisko, Tom Budin and Lumira.
