NANNING, China — One worker was killed and 13 injured in a concert staging accident at Guangxi Sports Center in Nanning, a city near China’s southern border with Vietnam. The accident, during setup for an Oct. 30 concert featuring Taiwan-based popular singer Jolin Tsai, happened at about 5 p.m. local time on Oct. 29.
Photos of the aftermath within the 60,000-capacity venue, which has been hosting sporting and other events since it opened in 2010, show twisted truss and a tangled mass of LED video screens, lighting and sound gear.
One of the 13 injured was reported to have sustained serious injuries; injuries suffered by the other 12 were reportedly less severe.
