OSLO, Norway — Some 17 members from Oslo’s BI Business School suffered minor injuries when part of the ceiling collapsed at the Sentrum Scene theater on August 21. According to witnesses, sections of the ceiling plaster (approximately a few centimeters in thickness) gradually began falling, first as small bits and then as large sections.

The Sentrum Scene operated as a movie theater from 1940 to 1988 and was converted to use as a concert hall in 1992, with seating divided between the main floor and a balcony. The sold-out venue was packed to its 1,750+ capacity with students attending a new student welcoming party/concert featuring DJ Steve Aoki.

As reported by the national new agency NTB, “The injured people are being treated at the site” and there were no reports of serious injuries, according to Carsten Pedersen, operations manager of the Oslo police.
