HONG KONG – Osram acquired the remaining shares of Traxon Technologies. In 2009, Osram obtained a majority holding of 51 percent in Traxon, which has since been operating as a joint venture under the name of “Traxon Technologies – An Osram Company.” Through this acquisition, Osram has been expanding its offerings of professional LED and lighting solutions.

OSRAM Further Strengthens its Competence in Lighting Solutions
OSRAM today announces that they have acquired the remaining shares of Traxon Technologies from its joint venture partner. In 2009, OSRAM obtained a majority holding of 51 percent in Traxon, which has since been operating as a joint venture under the name of “Traxon Technologies – An OSRAM Company.”
Through this acquisition OSRAM is supporting its strategy to systematically expand its professional LED and lighting solutions business, both technologically and regionally. Traxon operates on a global scale in the key markets of Asia, Latin America, Europe, Middle East and North America and thereby adds to OSRAM’s regional presence.
A company statement sent to customers from Klaus Vennemann, CEO Business Unit General Lighting, and Nicolai Wiest, CEO Traxon Technologies Ltd., explained, “This acquisition is a further step for OSRAM toward becoming one of the leading suppliers of LED lighting solutions and it also strentghens our global position in the professional LED lighting market. Traxon’s competence in LED luminaires, lighting controls systems and LED Systems and Solutions especially for architectural, shop, and hospitality applications complement OSRAM’s LED expertise.”
Traxon Technologies will continue to be headquartered in Hong Kong and in Paderborn, Germany. It markets its LED solutions under the brand names of Traxon (lighting) and e:cue (lighting control). More than 4,000 worldwide projects and installations – including Worldwide Plaza in New York and the “Christ the Redeemer” statue on Sugar Loaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, are examples of Traxon’s achievements in this field.
Traxon will keep its legal form as Traxon Technologies Ltd. and remain in OSRAM’s business segment of Professional Lighting Solutions.
