LONDON — In its 21st year, PLASA 2012 marks the final staging of the annual exhibition at Earls Court & Olympia before the show moves to ExCeL London (and the month of October) for 2013. Along with panel sessions on the industry’s involvement in this year’s Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 Olympics, there were plenty of new lighting and video products on display.

ArKaos had the latest details of its new MediaMaster 3.0 and the Video Mapper extension at Stand 2-R23 in the White Light zone.

Artistic Licence Engineering was among those represented at PLASA’s stand devoted to RDM developments (1-EC2-R4), which this year split its focus on architectural and entertainment use.

Avolites Media (1-G15) featured its Ai Infinity Media Server and Sapphire Media console.

CAST Group (1-E27) launched its upgraded BlackTrax V1, with tracked spotlights demonstrating how the speed of the system has been increased by between two and four times that of the original — a development made possible by switching to an Ethernet connection between the BlackTrax cameras and controller from the prior reliance on USB connectivity.

Green Hippo Ltd (1-G6) is following a year of expansion in staff and premises with announced enhancements of its media servers that promise user benefits including improved work-flow and production times and enhanced 3D video mapping, demoed by the new RegionMapper, projecting onto a cube in the middle of the stand, where the company turned VideoMapper 3D.

Jands (1-E10) launched its “Made for LEDs” Stage CL console, with 12 direct fixture control channels, powerful yet simple storing and a touch-screen interface, all in an easily portable chassis.

Lightfactor supported partner product launches from VXCO (with new DMX Creator PC lighting control software), DTS (Nick 1201 NRG LED moving head wash fixture, Jack Spot moving head with a dynamic motorized zoom and Scena F (fresnel) and PC (pebble convex) LED theatrical fixtures), LDR Alba 200W LED profile fixture), Cooper Controls (Cogent LED fixtures and Zero88 control products) along with Lightfactor’s distribution collaboration with soundlight.de.

Also on show were the Strand Lighting ML250 moving light control console and new iPad controls for Palette lighting control consoles. Philips also marked 30 years since the first Vari-Lite moving lights were put into service.
