DONETSK, Ukraine – CORTMI Ltd. has carried out an innovative lighting installation at a war memorial in their native city using PR Lighting’s new ARC LED 3216, among other lighting. The three LED spotlights have been placed on specially installed masts around the monument, illuminating it with red light to symbolize the bloody years of war.

DONETSK, Ukraine – Donetsk-based company CORTMI Ltd., PR Lighting’s Ukrainian distributor, has carried out an innovative lighting installation at a war memorial in their native city.
Under contract from the city administration they have created a dramatic and haunting lightscape, using PR Lighting LED fixtures, for the restored Victims of Fascism monument, located in the park at the Center for Slavic Culture. This monument is a place to pay homage to the horrors of the Second World War in the region.
CORTMI turned to three of PR Lighting’s new ARC LED 3216, using them with other narrowly focused white light illuminators. This fixture is a newly-automated ‘double-headed’ RGBWA fixture, containing 216 x 3W LEDs and inheriting its bright output from the PR-8802.
The three LED spotlights have been placed on specially installed masts around the monument, and illuminate the edifice laterally with red light — hitting the 12-faced granite piers and laurel wreath which symbolize the bloody years of war and grave victory. Meanwhile, white floodlighting provides further external and internal illumination from niche pylons, delineating the border design, while spotlights light up the night sky, recalling the rays of defensive anti-aircraft searchlights 70 years earlier.
CORTMI’s marketing manager, Stanislav N. Serbin, said the choice of LED lighting was made in recognition of the durability and economy of LED sources, as the monument is lit throughout the night.
In addition, the sound and lighting specialists have also supplied special Omnistronic GSG speakers in the inner recesses at the base of the pylons, through which songs of the war years are broadcast around the clock.
This installation was the result of the previous project at another big War Monument in Donetsk — the Monument to the Liberators of Donbass in the Leninsky Komsomol Park.
