ROZNOV, Czech Republic — Some 150 attendees representing Robe distributors from around the world gathered for Robe’s third International Dealer Conference. The event was held shortly before the Prolight + Sound exhibition took place in Frankfurt, Germany. The conference started with a tour of Robe’s factory in Valasske Mezirici, which has been expanded since the last Dealer Conference in 2007. The additional 4,000 square meters of space is now used for warehousing facilities, a logistics center and a plastic molding workshop. Visitors also saw new Research Center for Robe’s R&D.
The conference also included a stop off at the new Anolis factory, a separate facility that opened last year to support the Anolis brand of LED products.
Conference sessions were also held at Zerotin Castle, a preserved 16th century fortress.
Harry von den Stemmen, Robe’s international sales manager, gave a report on the company’s progress over the last two years. His presentation was followed by MD Josef Valchar, who outlined Robe’s origins and its future developments and strategies.
Von den Stemmen continued with a report about recent events where Robe products were used, including Miss World 2008, where 12 DigitalSpot 7000DTs and 32 REDWash 3192 LED wash lights were deployed and seen by some 2 billion people in 200 countries on 373 TV stations.
Miss World 2008’s LD, Tim Dunn from Gearhouse South Africa, was on hand to explain in detail the effects he was able to create using the company’s digital lighting products. Dunn’s presentation was followed with one by Louise Stickland, PR and press coordinator for Robe and Gearhouse South Africa.
The afternoon was rounded off with Valchar and Technical Sales Manager Ales Grivac presenting the new products — the Robin 3 Plasma Spot and the Robin 300E Spot and Wash — plus the full line of Digital and RED Series’ fixtures. A Q&A session, dinner, awards program and party followed.
