DEVON, UK – A special custom version of ShowLED Animation supplied by UK Distributor S+H Technical Support Ltd is being used on the current touring version of the hit ‘Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert: The Musical.’ The Animation Cloth has been supplied to the tour’s video contractors XL Video as specified by their project manager, Ed Cooper.
More details from S+H Technical Support (www.starcloth.co.uk):
It measures 8 meters wide by 7 meters high and was specially manufactured by S+H for the tour with a 130mm grid matrix of pixels as opposed to the standard Animation Cloth. The modifications were needed to display the specific show content being played through it in a certain manner to give it a ‘clean’ finish.
The Animation Cloth is flown mid-stage and is used for the first 15 minutes of the show, until the famous Priscilla bus is revealed.
It comes back in again at key points during the performance, fed with content stored on a Catalyst media server, which also plays back other video elements.
Cooper says it’s been great working with S+H on this project, and he appreciates their speed and flexibility in delivering the special version of the product.
S+H’s Animation Cloth is popular for its light weight, ease of install and road worthiness. The RGB LEDs can be individually controlled and used to create a range of effects. Itt can be fed from sources stored on any media server or other input devices such as laptops.
Ilfracombe, Devon-based S+H’s Terry Murtha comments, “We were extremely pleased to work with XL Video on this production as one of the UK’s leading entertainment video rental companies, and also to have Animation Cloth on such a well-loved, brilliantly produced, highly entertaining show.”
Animation Cloth has been used on a number of other recent high profile events including the BBC’s Children In Need telecast, Love Machine, Wembley VIP Area and after-show parties and numerous corporate awards.
