Soho Shanghai Equipped with Robe DigitalSpots

SHANGHAI, China – CD Soho is a new nightclub designed by Chen Gang that features a large central bar surrounded by a series of white fluted columns and a lighting rig that includes 12 Robe DigitalSpot 3000DTs. Ah Gang chose the fixtures for their ability to create projections onto the pillars and around the room, changing the visuals to match the mood desired by different groups of live performers.

"The idea of having a modern and 'digital' bar was really at the essence of Soho, so it made sense to install fixtures with the flexibility to be able to run all types of digital media," said Ah Gang, who also oversees CD Company's three other bars in Shanghai.

The DigitalSpots' wallpaper effects and other visuals including fire chasing from one end of the room to the other add to the venue's appeal. They also project logos and promos.

"They are the perfect fixtures for what we're doing here," Gang said, crediting them for reliability.

The DigitalSpots are rigged in the ceiling around the bar and are controlled via ArtNet by a Road Hog Full Boar console, which also runs a number of other lighting fixtures in the room.

They have been programmed with custom media in CD's own art and design workshop.

The Shanghai office of Robe's Chinese distributor Leifull supplied the fixtures to Shi Kai, which installed and integrated the gear.

"It's great to see Robe's Digital series products being used in more and more innovative and diverse ways as atmosphere creating tools," said Leifull's international trading manager, Steven Cai.
