BRECON, Wales — Theatr Brycheiniog, which uses solar panels to cover some of its energy requirements, also has a lighting rig with a mix of LED and conventional fixtures. On the LED side are 20 Chauvet COLORado Batten 72 Tour linear wash lights specified by Stage Electrics.
Although the benefits of energy efficient LEDs are becoming more widely known, Geraint Thomas, technical manager for Theatr Brycheiniog, noted that the theatre still plays a key role in helping those LDs who still face a learning curve.
“As new lighting designers come here, we first go over the equipment to prepare them to go from incandescent to LEDs,” he said. “We need to accept LEDs as a standard as well as an investment,” Thomas added. “LEDs draw far less power and won’t need to be replaced for ages.”
