South African Theatre Equipped with Philips Selecon Lighting

PRETORIA, South Africa — Philips Selecon reseller DWR Distribution worked with Pieter-Jan Kapp, theatre consultant for the 420-seat Atterbury Theatre, on the lighting rig for the venue, which has been compared in terms of production quality to theatres on London’s West End.

Kapp spent time at DWR headquarters to look at the various control consoles, light fixtures and equipment that would fit the theatre’s needs and budget. He opted for a combination of Selecon SPX Axial 14 degree fixed profile spot lights, Selecon SPX Axial 19 degree fixed profile spot lights, Selecon SPX Axial 26 degree fixed profile spots, Selecon Rama Fresnels and Selecon Lui Cyc 3 Battens were installed.

DWR’s Dan Riley, who headed the project, called the venue’s recent opening night a “huge success,” with the energy-efficient Selecon fixtures helping to make the theatre look “warm, yet stately and elegant.”

The theatre is now equipped to handle musical theatre, drama, performing bands, solo artists, dance productions, choirs and school productions.
