LEEDS, U.K. – STL, which used Novalight Nova-Flower 2K "flower effect" fixtures for the 2010 Fireworks Spectacular at Leeds Castle, has ordered more of the units from U.K. distributor Lightfactor, doubling its rental stock. STL's Phil Parsons used the Nova-Flowers along with and High Ground units laser effects to complement the fireworks display by Alchemy Fireworks. The visuals were synched to a movie-themed sound track organized for the spectacle.
STL positioned four of the High Ground fixtures and three Nova-Flowers along the wall of the Castle and used them for skimming across the lake, creating atmospherics, beam support and infill for the foreground area as Alchemy detonated pyro from three sites inside and behind the castle.
Parsons controlled the Nova-Flowers, High Grounds and other luminaires using an Avolites Pearl Expert console for the two-night event, seen by as many as 8,000 each evening.
He credited the size of the beams produced by the Nova-Flowers, seen by the audience located no closer than 100 meters to the lighting positions, and also spoke favourably of the speed and zoom range of the High Grounds, noting the trend to use high-powered, narrow-beam effects for events of this sort.
