More details from Universal Event Productions (www.U-E-P.co.uk):
Chilfest 2014, the first and only UK music festively to be promoted by an industry technical production specialist – Universal Event Productions, has announced an expanded event for 2014 with a third day added and a stonking all-action line up from July 4th – 6th at the beautiful Pendley Meadow, Tring, Hertfordshire, UK.
Friday night sees a glittering line up of 1980’s rockers including The Boomtown Rats, Heaven 17, From The Jam, Big Country, China Crisis and Doctor & The Medics.
Sizzling Saturday is headlined by Jason Donovan! Getting into the groove with him are Toyah, Leee John (from Imagination), Go West, Bad Manners and Boney M.
Everything gets bang up to pop-tastic date on Sunday which sees ITV’s The Big Reunion supergroup 5thstory take to the stage following their starring roles in the new Big Reunion series … as well as exciting performances from Union J, 911, Rough Copy and Amelia Lily.
Event Organizer Steve Butcher comments, “Once we committed to staging the event again this year, it became apparent that there is a real abundance of very good 1980s acts who are playing regularly … and from there we formulated the line up based on our demographic, with two nights of classic eighties and a blast of modern pop on the Sunday aimed at our younger audience members”.
The inaugural Chilfest took place last year and was initially planned not as a commercial exercise but as a 15th anniversary celebration for Universal Event Productions, well known as a supplier of technical production solutions – lighting, sound, video and staging – for high end corporate clients.
However the massive success of the event – also nominated for two UK Festival Awards – on all fronts, and the fact that UEP’s staff, regular freelancers, friends and family who worked tirelessly to ensure such a smooth running festival in 2013 all enjoyed it so much … made Butcher decide to do it again!
Butcher is keen to preserve the independence, boutique style, accessibility and family friendly atmosphere of Chilfest, which also has a unique advantage in being set in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Once again the capacity has been set at 7,000 and as he explains, “It’s about presenting very high production values for all the artists – to a level they would expect at one of the major mainstream festivals – and a superlative experience for all our audience”.
Being the second time around, they will also benefit from familiarity with the site, while several improvements are also planned to enhance the whole Chilfest vibe, the most noticeable of which will be illuminating selected trees and foliage around the site with a tasteful, eco-friendly LED lighting scheme.
In the first week of tickets sales, the response has been “Very brisk” reports Butcher, who reveals that they have not yet even advertised outside of their website and Facebook pages.
“I advise anyone wanting to get tickets to book early,” he says.
