SAALBURG, Germany – For the Main Circus area at this year's SonneMondSterne (SMS) Festival electronic dance music event, designer Uwe Heinrich used a Solaris+ LED system from G-LEC as a visual centerpiece. Heinrich created a chandelier with a diameter of more than 12 meters using 64 ropes of Solaris+, each with a length of 8 meters. The Solaris+ enabled every sphere in the system to be addressed individually via a DVI video signal to create unique visual effects, programmed with video content that pulsed to the beat of the music.
Solaris + is a video content system of low resolution spheres with full 360 degree viewing. Assembled in strings, the system lets designers configure and program the system in ways that range from a flat 2D curtain to a full three dimensional centerpiece.
Along with the Solaris+, Uwe used 96 GLP impressions to light the Main Circus with a show also synched to the beat of the music. The gear for the Main Circus area, which featuring DJ Rush, Ellen Allien, Miss Kittin and the Turntablerockers, came from Heli-Show.
Now in its 14th year, the SMS drew thousands with five stages in all.
