W-DMX Lends Support to Scenofest 2011

UDDEVALLA, Sweden – Wireless Solution Sweden lent sponsor support – and a wireless solution – to Scenofest 2011, held this year in Prague. One of the theatrical workshops required a performance in the large Franciscan Garden. As the artistic director did not want DMX cabling across the seven locations within the garden to link with one central lighting console, W-DMX helped provide connectivity.

W-DMX Lends Sponsor Support to Scenofest 2011

UDDEVALLA, Sweden –  Wireless Solution Sweden AB was a sponsor for the recent Scenofest event in Prague in the Czech Republic. Scenofest is the educational project of OISTAT (International Organization of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians) and the Prague Quadrennial.

Scenofest, which was held during the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space – among the world’s largest scenography events – included workshops in a wide variety of artistic disciplines. More than 70 artists and professional leaders from all over the world and more than 1500 students and professionals participated.

Visitors to the Prague Quadrennial had the opportunity to enjoy the performances entitled “Six Acts,” transforming locations around the city into spaces for site-specific performances and installations realized by students under the leaderships of Pavel Stourac, Roma Patel, Louise Ann Wilson, Rolf Abderhalden, Tomas Zizka and Fiona Watt. The Six Acts were united by being strongly driven by sound and light.

W-DMX was used in the First Act, the artistic vision of Pavel Stoura and his team of students. Participants invited visitors to move from the bustle of the city to discover ancient stories and forgotten lives. The performance showed the garden stories through the collaboration of light, sound and the movement of participants’ bodies outfitted in paper costumes.

Shane Kelly, Head of Theatre Technology of The Theatre School at DePaul University used W-DMX transmitters and receivers, donated by Wireless Solution, to realize Stoura’s vision. The event was held in the large Francsiscan Garden in seven different locations.  There was power at each location, but they did not want to run DMX cable across the garden. There was one central location for the lighting console.

Louis Janssen, President of OISTAT, thanked Wireless Solution for their participation.

Niclas Arvidsson, CEO of Wireless Solution said, “It’s a privilege to be involved in events like Scenofest. We are happy to contribute to these activities which further the arts.”
