Busy 40th season of shows for White Light

LONDON – Entertainment lighting specialist White Light marks its 40th anniversary this year – celebrating with a busy season of new theatre productions, the area that the company first worked in and for which it is still best known by many even though its work now encompasses all areas of entertainment lighting.

In London’s West End, White Light is supplying the lighting to new productions of Butley (LD Howard Harrison at the Duchess), Cool Hand Luke (LD Matthew Eagland at the Aldwych), Driving Miss Daisy (transferring to the Wyndhams Theatre from New York with LD Peter Kaczorowski), Matilda (LD Hugh Vanstone at the Cambridge), and The Tempest (LD Paul Pyant at the Haymarket).

The shows join others in the West End already supported by White Light, these including Billy Elliot (LD Rick Fisher), Chicago (LD Ken Billington), Les Misérables (LD David Hersey), The 39 Steps (LD Ian Scott), Shrek (LD Hugh Vanstone), War Horse (LD Paule Constable), The Wizard of Oz (LD Hugh Vanstone), The Woman In Black (LD Kevin Sleep), Crazy For you (LD Tim Mitchell) and Backbeat (LD Howard Harrison).

White Light is also busy on the touring circuit, supplying the lighting to shows including Buddy (LD Joe Atkins), Dirty Dancing (LD Tim Mitchell), South Pacific (LD Donald Holder), Top Hat (LD  Peter Mumford) and Sister Act (LD Natasha Katz).

Outside of London, White Light has been busy supporting the Manchester International Festival once again, supplying lighting for Dr Dree (LD Paule Constable), The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic (LD AJ Weissbard), That Day We Sang (LD Mark Henderson) and to the Bridgewater Hall (LD Chris Davey).

These West End and touring productions sit alongside the many other projects White Light is involved with – an average of 400 jobs a week served from its base in Wimbledon in southwest London.
