LOS ANGELES – A.C.T Lighting added Doug Mekanik to its team as a technical support specialist. Mekanik will support A.C.T Lighting products, including MA Lighting, Clay Paky, LiteWare and W-DMX, and will train customers on their use. "I'm excited to be joining A.C.T Lighting and begin training programmers on the grandMA2 console," says Mekanik. "It's going to be great to work closely with a whole new level of programmers and productions."
A graduate of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA with a degree in Theatre Design/Technology, Mekanik has an extensive background in entertainment from designing and programming lighting in concert, dance and theatrical atmospheres to providing technical support and training to lighting designers and programmers.
He previously worked as a lighting supervisor for a professional roadhouse where he adapted tour-lighting requirements for the venue's 2,500-seat theater and served as the e venue's in-house designer and programmer. He also launched his freelance programming career with several lighting rental companies throughout Virginia and with designers nationwide. Later, Mekanik accepted a position with TMB as the head Avolites console trainer in North America.
Mekanik's recent professional credits include the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, REO SpeedWagon's 2010 tour and providing the lighting design for a benefit concert by American Idol's Ruben Studdard.
