PLSN Staff • On the Move • July 27, 2010

CLEVELAND-GE Lighting has hired Jaime A. Irick to lead GE Lighting Solutions as its president and CEO, reporting to Michael Petras, president and CEO of GE Lighting. The company also announced that Brian Sroub has been named to the newly created global role of chief marketing officer for GE Lighting, also reporting to Petras. Irick comes to GE Lighting Solutions from GE Power Sensing-a global unit of GE Energy that designs, makes and sells power equipment products-where he most recently served as the business' general manager.

In his new role, Irick drives the development, growth and management of GE's global light-emitting diode (LED) product business for both the household and professional market segments.

Irick's early experience with GE includes a sales leadership role with GE Security's Homeland Protection division. His experience in strategic planning includes work for GE's Corporate Initiatives Group.

Prior to joining GE in 2003, Irick worked in business development for two start-up technology companies. He served five years in the U.S. Army, where he became a qualified Airborne Ranger and a graduate of the Army's Scout Platoon Leader Course. Irick earned an MBA from The Harvard Business School and a BS degree in system engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

GE Lighting Solutions was formed in early 2010 with the combination of GE Lighting's LED systems operation, Lumination, based in Cleveland, and the commercial and industrial fixture business, GE Lighting Systems in Hendersonville, N.C.

Sroub most recently served as vice president of marketing and product management at the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute. His formal marketing training began at Procter & Gamble and was later seasoned through work for Sony Electronics Inc., and Hearst Corporation. Working as a consultant, he has conceived, built and guided marketing programs and organizations for several companies. Sroub has founded and led more than 10 entrepreneurial ventures, including organizations in the Silicon Valley. He is an inventor tied to 14 pending and issued patents. Sroub earned an MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business and both an MA in economics and a BA in economics and communications from Boston College.
