HLB Lighting Design Adds Business Development Leader

NEW YORK – Jeffrey Miller has re-joined HLB Lighting Design’s New York studio as a Design Principal focused on business development in several new geographic areas for the firm. His career spans more than 30 years. During his tenure as President of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), he created the IALD Quality of Light Initiative, led the successful re-branding of the association and formed the IALD Office of Public Policy.

NEW YORK – Jeffrey Miller, FIALD, has re-joined HLB Lighting Design’s New York studio as a Design Principal focused on business development in several new geographic areas for the firm.  Miller’s collaboration with HLB Lighting Design will build on his vast experience and strong design skills in several market sectors including, hospitality, life sciences/healthcare and high-rise buildings.

His career spans over 30 years, founded in theater where Miller learned the artistry of light, he then joined Jules Horton Lighting Design in 1979 thus kick starting a career in lighting design.

Miller is recognized for a wide range of projects including the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Hong Kong with Hirsch Bedner & Associates.  He led the lighting design for the Manitoba Hydro Place in Winnipeg, with Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects — Canada’s first LEED Gold office building.  Other projects of distinction include the McCormick Tribune Student Center on the IIT Campus in Chicago for Rem Koolhaas/OMA, and the recently completed Pearl River Tower in Guangzhou, PRC for Skidmore Owings & Merrill, one of the world’s first zero net energy high rises.

During his tenure as President of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), Miller created the IALD Quality of Light Initiative, led the successful re-branding of the association and formed the IALD Office of Public Policy, which has successfully engaged policy makers on issues critical to the design profession and the general public.  He has been a featured speaker in venues throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.
