LAS VEGAS — Timeless Communications announces that well-known lighting designer Nook Schoenfeld will take the helm of Projection, Lights & Staging News effective Dec. 15. Schoenfeld, who is familiar to PLSN readers as the monthly contributor to the LD-at-Large column on the magazine’s last page for the last eight years, has toured with artists and bands ranging from Kid Rock to Imagine Dragons. He is pictured here at the 2014 Parnelli Awards, where his appointment was announced.
“We’re really excited about Nook taking over and building on the great tradition that is PLSN,” said publisher Terry Lowe. “He has a unique combination of in-the-trenches lighting expertise and years of magazine writing experience. And he’s the first PLSN editor to win a Parnelli Award for lighting design,” Lowe added, noting Schoenfeld’s 2011 win as the Parnelli Lighting Designer of the Year.
“I will be filling the shoes of our current editor Justin Lang when he steps down next month,” Schoenfeld said. “Now, these are some pretty big shoes to fill, and I will try my hardest to meet the expectations you all have after his departure,” he added. “I do not wish to alarm anyone as Justin is still his jovial self and doing just fine.”
Lang took over from former PLSN editor Richard Cadena in March, 2011, and both Lang and Schoenfeld will be working on PLSN’s behalf during a two-week transition period in early December.
Nook’s responsibilities with the magazine will be expanding from just the back page to every page in every issue – from the magazine’s Editor’s Note to LD-at-Large. But the back page will by no means be taking a back seat in Schoenfeld’s overall priorities. “This is actually going to be more exciting, as I have enlisted several top notch LDs to take over the back column on a rotating basis,” Schoenfeld says.
