SGM Names Ian Kirby Head of Sales in U.K.

SEVINGTON, U.K. — SGM named Ian Kirby head of sales in the U.K. Kirby was recruited by Peter Johansen, SGM’s director of R&D and Strategic Sales Development. Years ago, the two had been colleagues at Martin Professional; and Kirby had originally set up Martin Professional’s U.K. operation.

Kirby’s role with SGM will run in parallel to his own company, LED Projects Ltd — the Kent based distribution and installation operation, which will double as SGM’s UK sales office. “The interest in joining SGM was stimulated mainly by Peter Johansen’s involvement, and the fact that he was bringing his original R&D team back together,” Kirby said.

“They are already coming out with some great ideas, and one of the benefits of them having been away from the industry in the meantime is that they have been able to return with completely fresh ideas rather than a different take on the same thing.”
