TAVULLIA, Italy – SGM named Italo Trading, LLC as its distributor for Central America and seven countries in South America. (Pictured here are Antonio Parise, SGM area manager; Daniel Costa Salomao; and SGM commercial director, Giorgio Radice.) SGM also named Troels Vølver, former CEO of Martin Professional, as export manager, North America and Asia Pacific and named Steen V. Geertsen to oversee sales and business developments in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Russia and parts of the Middle East. Along with all countries in Central America, Italo Trading, LLC will take responsibility for sales in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay. "Due to its great knowledge of the local markets, Italo Trading will substantially reduce the distance between our factory in Italy and the Latin American market," said SGM's area manager, Antonio Parise.
Italo Trading owner and founder, Daniel Costa Salomao, has been working in the entertainment and audio industries since 1997, starting with Selenium Loudspeakers in Brazil. He then moved to U.S. to open and manage the company subsidiary and build the Selenium brand. In late 2005 he joined the B-52 Professional family company in Los Angeles, then he moved to Italy to manage International sales for Proel SpA. After that, he settled in Miami, FL and set up his own Italo Trading brand marketing company.
"It was an organic process to enter the lighting industry as my customers are constantly asking me to recommend lighting products to their projects," said Salomao, who has a bachelor's degree in International Business and is fluent in English, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, calling SGM "a great company" with "a new creative R&D department."
Vølver, who will be serving as export manager for North America and the Asia Pacific regions while based in Denmark, has built up a large distributor network during his time in the industry and was CEO of Martin Professional Inc before leaving in 2005 to take up an export role with another Danish company. Geertsen joined Martin Professional in 1991 and in recent years worked with the IT and network consulting industry.
"Both Steen and Troels have great experience and will provide vital cogs in our Commercial Direction, as we seek to increase SGM's market share in key territories," said SGM commercial director Giorgio Radice. "I know that these important export markets will be in safe hands."
