FRANKFURT – Dataton will be showcasing its new WATCHPAX 4 media player at Prolight + Sound 2017. Designed for playback of multi-display shows created in Dataton WATCHOUT, the WATCHPAX 4 sticks out from the crowd with its classy looks, trim format and user-friendly approach. The unit also packs a punch – as will be demonstrated on the Dataton stand in Hall 4.0 B59 with 8K output (4 x 4K).

More details from Dataton (www.dataton.com):

“WATCHPAX 4 is plug-and-play which means installers save precious time in the field – there’s no tweaking or last-minute hardware tuning. Just power up your units, connect to the network and get started,” explains Trond Solvold, Sales Director, Dataton AB. “Another key benefit is purely physical: each unit weighs just short of three kilos and has a practical A4-size footprint. That means you have four times 4K playout in a format that can be hand-carried between jobs and is compact enough to be installed close to your display sources. That’s a real gain for installs where space is limited.”

As a dedicated server, the WATCHPAX 4 taps into the presentation power of Dataton’s well-known WATCHOUT multi-display production and playback software with its strong projection-mapping workflow, pre-visualization and support for NDI. WATCHOUT is fully scalable and multiple WATCHPAX 4 units can be used in the same installation. With four DisplayPort outputs per unit, WATCHPAX 4 is suited to a range of applications including signage, live events and fixed installations – stacked, or mounted in a standard 19-inch rack for extra flexibility.

“We’ve already seen how WATCHPAX 4 fits the bill for touring shows because it is so easy to transport, compared to shipping rack-servers that offer similar performance. The unit is also making a mark in large-scale installations where it is mounted close to, for example, multiple LED screens to avoid long, expensive video cable runs,” Trond Solvold concludes.

Dataton will exhibit on stand 4.0-B59 Prolight + Sound 2017, April 4-7.
