Troels Volver, 58, a longtime executive with Aarhus, Denmark-based Martin Professional, died Jan. 3, 2013, after a short illness. Volver, who joined Martin in 1994 and served as CEO, spearheaded the company’s push into Singapore in 1996 and the U.S. market in 1998. Volver left Martin in 2005, working as a Denmark-based export executive for companies including SGM, an Italy-based lighting manufacturer. Volver had fully retired from SGM at the time of his death. That company, which was acquired by Martin founder Peter Johansen, is now based in Aabyhoej, Denmark.
“With the passing of my Dad, I would like to say thank you to all the people who were part of his life, and helped make a difference in the lighting world,” said Volver’s son, Jasper. “I know my dad enjoyed every moment working with the Martin Crew. It’s an honor to see what a positive impact he had on employees and co-workers. People I’ve never met have been messaging me on Facebook telling me what an inspiration he is, and that is such an honor for me to hear. There is always one thing that my Dad told me and the Martin Crew, and that was: ‘Individuals play the game, teams win championships.’ To all the lighting people who knew my Dad, I thank them because he was a great man, and his legacy will never be forgotten.”
